| Sara Canning  (born July 14, 1987) is a Canadian actress. She co-stars on The CW television series The Vampire Diaries as Jenna Sommers.
Biography
Born in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, Canning was raised in the Sherwood neighborhood of Edmonton, Alberta. She is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School. Her first role after graduating was playing Nicky ilton in the TV film, Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story, produced in Vancouver in 2008.] She guest starred on the television series Smallville that year, and on Kyle XY in 2009. Also in 2009, Canning played Anne Sluti, the lead character in the TV film Taken in Broad Daylight.
Canning co-stars on The CW television series The Vampire Diaries. She plays Jenna Sommers, the aunt and guardian of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and her younger brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Canning was arrested for disorderly conduct along with photographer Tyler Shields and fellow cast members Nina Dobrev, Candice Accola, and Kayla Ewell for loitering on a bridge during a photo shoot in Georgia. The charges were later dismissed.
Canning will star as Maggie McGregor in the upcoming feature film Black Field. The film, a period piece set in the 19th Century, was shot in Tyndall, Manitoba, Canada. | |
